How about everyone shares a "new" dip recipe appropriate for h'orderves or cocktail hour.
We've all had salsa, spinach artichoke and Knorrs veg soup dip . . . let's share some creative new goodness, doesn't have to be fancy - just a new creation or discovery; perfect for the start of an evening to a hot summer day. . .

I'll start with the one I just whipped up, I can tell it's going to be good . . . I'm calling it:

Green Garden Goodness

1 block of cream cheese
3-4 heaping tablespoons of plain yogurt
1 med. cucumber fresh from the garden - peeled and grated
Apx 1 cup of loosely packed fresh basil leaves - slivered
Janes crazy mixed up salt - to taste.

Blend and chill, serve on crusty bread

(I think this would be great with vegis to dip too)

Nobody hmmm . . .
Well this was a big hit last night, a little runny; if you want it thicker just let your cucumber drain a bit before adding, but we liked it this way.

Here's another to get your ideas rolling . . . My kids call this Mom's Pink Dip and it is the house favorite - extremely simple but when I start making it, it doesn't take them long to line up.

Mom's Pink Dip - serve with corn chips

1 Brick of Philidelphia brand Cream Cheese
1 med size jar of medium heat Pace Picante - (not the thick and chunky)

Mash it together witha fork until it is a disgusting pink chunkyness.
Trust me use these brands, don't use sour cream instead of cream cheese, and mix together dont just pour over the top.

Have fun!

Baco Dip

2/3 cup sour cream
2/3 cup Hellmans Mayo
1/4 cup Bacos
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 Tablespoon Parsley
2 tsp. dill weed (1 tsp. if using dried dill)

Chill for a couple of hours. Good with veggies or crackers

Garlic Artichoke Dip.

3-4 cloves garlic peeled
2 cans (8oz ea) artichoke hearts drained
1 c grated parmesan cheese
1 c mayonnaise
juice of 1 lemon
dash of tobasco
fresh veggies, chips, crackers, bread (any or all) for dipping

Put everything in the food processor and buzz until artichokes are medium fine. Place in a baking dish and bake at 350 for aprox 30 mins or until golden brown on top.

I throw it all into a tallish container and use my stick blender - quicker and easier clean up.

It can be made ahead of time and served at room temperature.

I am definately going to try your tomatoe basalmic dip rigth away . . . I love when people experiment and use new ingredients, the combination of ricotta and basalmic sounds very interesting.

I am going to try this . . . I'm not sure about bacos though . . . do you think regular crumbled bacon would work, or does it need the bacos?

I'm sure the regular bacon bits would work, but it would have a different taste. Those "fake bacos" give it a distinctive taste.
