I have 6 chickens that I consider pets, but I've never had a pet chicken until now.
I purchased Ellie at a recent poultry show. I picked her because she was the only pullet who didn't try to run away. Instead she pecked my hand. Winner!
From day one she has climbed all over me, and enjoys perching on my shoulder, and dumping feathers in my lap. She sent my husband to urgent care after attempting to eat his eyeball, but that only makes her more endearing . She also enjoys "dust baths" in a towel. She's the most curious and bravest chicken I've known.
She really likes the other chickens, but she's having a bit of a rough time integrating, mostly due to her size and the weather.
Maybe I'll just convince my husband that we need a house chicken.
