I just got some new Fluffy butts!! I wanted to try a little better grade of chick. Anyone have experience with Feather Lover Farms- "National Champion Imported French" black copper marans? Ten babies arrived today despite the hurricane damage, they seem to be doing good save for a couple that took the trip a bit harder. Thoughts on how this bloodline turns out from anyone with experience with Feather Lover Farms?
Opal, our broody mottled cochin, hatched some storm babies on Monday. One baby got pecked by another hen (I miscalculated & didn't pull her into a cage in time with all the bustling around for hurricane prep). Unfortunately, it didn't make it but the other one hatched in the cage with momma during the hurricane that hit Texas. I thought about giving her a couple of the new maran babies so she would have more than one, but she wasn't so keen on it when I put a couple in there & they got close to her baby. I don't want the new babies to get hurt. I am undecided on whether to leave her singleton baby with her or not. Thoughts? She's being an excellent first time momma.
