Hi everyone! I haven’t visited this page in many years. We’ve had chickens for probably 20+ years, but I am here now because I have a couple of questions about specific chickens in our flock.

This one is a baby born about four weeks ago to a cuckoo Maran (we think since they came from tractor supply.🤪)

I think it’s a she, but not sure and would love your thoughts! Anyway, she was a lone chick with her mom and the mom decided to abandon her about four days ago.🙁

So luckily, we have her in a small pen and shed at night with another hen that has also one baby chick. (I know sad story, but they decided to hatch these guys out.)

Anyway, she seems to be adjusting a little bit better to being a lonely chick. But do we think she is a pullet or a baby Roo? And any thoughts on helping a baby like this adjust to being part of the overall flock would be great. (We have 19 total including 2 roosters).

We also have Cows, chickens, horses, dogs, and cats and we raise grassfed beef cattle and have a small organic vegetable garden. We are regenerative farmers and love the Homestead life! 🌻☀️🌱

I realize I didn’t really show the tail so here are a couple more. Also one of most of the flock. We have 108 acres but free range these on about 5 PS that’s the Bad Mama 2nd from left.
So beautiful! :love Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the white spot on the head of speckled sussex indicate males?
