Finally got photos of my girls, they've been here for a week now, and I've gotten 7 eggs. The egg thing is weird, one is on strike, not sure if it's stress or molt. One has laid one egg. The best so far are the Black Astralorp and Blue Cochin Bantam (who may be going broody).
Here they are!
"Miss Puffy Pants"
"Astro"
"Miss Thang" (she has an attitude problem)
Astro and Miss Thang
"Miss Frizzle Pants" (no eggs yet)
And the babies. Blue Splash Maran, and a white some-thing-er-other that for some reason has two long roo tail feathers.....
It's amazing the difference in them since coming here. They were filthy, dull, and scared. Now they're so happy they scoot around the yard in play. Much cleaner and I haven't bathed them. The baby Splash (might be a name?) was acting "not right" but she's much improved. The white one let's me hold her/him... those two long tail feathers have me concerned. It was very much anti-social.
Have the shed up and a roof on it, need to move it across the yard, insulate it, and build the run. Then they can move in. Right now they're in dog crates with access to the dog run that I put bird netting over. It's a pain to put them to bed, but at least they get play time and I have an excuse to handle them and tame them down. The Cochins are way sweet.
And hopefully in 2 1/2 weeks, I'll have baby photos out of the incubator!
