Hello! I have been raising hens for over 8 years in the suburbs. Have had chicks, and poulets. Currently on our third flock (one rogue flock flew over a 6 foot fence into the wilderness and succumbed…)
Currently have 5 layers and 2 grandmas.
We had a rooster (unplanned) and our neighbors begged us to keep him. Was wonderful until he wore out girls out and we had to donate him (not enough hens for him, my guess)

Looking forward to learning more!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

We have some roosters that can be in a breeding pen with one hen, and others with five. Some are just harder on the hens than others. These roosters for the most part, are all very tame and sweet, just a couple of them shove their toenails into the hen must harsher. Maybe sometime I'll see about clipping then grinding their nails.
