glad to have you join us.

I have a camera in my nests - that's the only way I could have ever told who layed what egg when they were young pullets.

But even so, now that I no longer try to watch - and still cannot tell by egg characteristics who laid today

Welcome to Backyard chickens 3520 !! I hope you enjoy it and the camaraderie here and everybody that goes nuts over chickens (me being one of them....) Have fun! And ask questions!

thanks for the link, redsoxs, it gave me some ideas on whose egg is whose.
here is a pic of the egg i think belongs to my australorp.

Hey there! Love your chicken pictures! I also have red sex links and australorpes and it took me a while to figure out who is laying what. It's still difficult to tell so I usually have to catch them in the act. I've been labeling and taking pictures in hopes of getting better at it.

For reference:
Olena and Margaery (Marg) are australorpes
Dany, Meli, Sansa and Myrcella are sex links

Some lay speckled eggs, some are rounder than others...but the shades seem to vary quite a bit. I feel like Dany's eggs are always different colors.
The other thing that helps is I've learned what time of day certain chickens tend to lay.
It's fun getting to know your chickens, good luck!
