Hi everyone. Here's my new member post. I'll be starting my first flock soon. The chicks are ordered and arrive next month. I've set up a homemade brooder (I love all the ideas I've seen here) and my coop will be constructed once the snow and ice are gone. I've ordered 10 chicks - 5 Ameraucana and 5 Maran. I've been wanting chickens for a long time. We moved into a new home in the fall that has the land for chickens and more so adopting some goats, a mini donkey, and horse are all goals. Pinterest brought me to BYC, glad to be here and learn from everyone with experience. Thanks in advance for all the advice!

Welcome. I love your plan, but my advice is take it slow. You will not know until you get started how much time it will take to caretake, and more importantly how much time you want to spend with each types of animals. You may just fall in love with chickens like many of us and find you are spending a lot of therapeutic time with them.
