The little duckling finally hatched around lunch time yesterday. Unfortunately Mouse ended up rejecting it an hour after it hatched. She had been fine up until after it hatched and then kept flinging it out each time I tried to stick it back under her.
Before anyone says it, I'm unable to find it a friend so it'll be sticking with me all the time. If I need to quickly ride my bike to the feed store for anything, both my brothers and my older brother's girlfriend have stepped up to watch it for me so it'll be with a human almost 24/7. Once it's old enough to go outside completely, I will be putting it in our empty but fenced yard for the 'See, no touch' method so the parent birds can get use to it.
Regardless of gender, it will be staying.
It currently seems to have imprinted on me
Right now, it really loves the heating pad we put in the carrier for it.
Actually scared me when I went to bed because of how quiet it was. When I checked on it, it was sleeping.
