My 15 yo son joined 4H and decided to raise chickens. I went all in and built a nice size coop and run for them. Started with 6 red sexlinks that were about a year old and then got 4 pullets. We're down to 7 now.....1 didn't make it through the sudden snowstorm we had down here a while back and 2 have been lost to a feral cat (a situation I plan to resolve). We're also getting 4 cuckoo maran pullets next month.

Welcome! I'm in La. also and love this web site! Especially a member named Eggsissive who is so informative with all ailments of chickens. Yeah freezing nights here. I insulated my chicken wire coop with card board boxes and they all made it!
