Hello! I've actually been a member before, but it was years ago. I had a few backyard pet birds, but we had an incident involving another homeowner in the neighborhood and feral cats - Grrrr - and to protect the rest of my birds, I sent them to a farm in North Carolina. I now have a much better little farm and I'm starting over. But I'm starting differently and I'm an anxiety ridden mess.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
It's been about 10 years since I last had chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 6 baby hens and one roo - just about a week old.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Four Lavender Orpingtons, Two Rhode Island Reds and a GLW rooster.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The laughs and antics, secondly - eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
That's a loaded question. Paranormal Investigator, wildlife and bird photography, old cars and history.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I recently bought our dream house, and are turning it into a mini farm. We have 4 mini doxies and a lab mix. We are also going to be adding a couple of turkeys to our flock for hawk protection.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I first learned about it years ago searching for help on chickens. I left when I sent my birds away, but came back when I was able to start again!
