Hello, I am a new member. We had chickens when our children were young (late 80's). We really didn't do
anything special. We just let them do their thing. We gave the eggs away and after the chickens started thining
out from predators we gave the chickens away as I couldn't let my kids have to deal with the death of their pets.
Now my husband has decided he wants 2 chicks. He is having a coop built and so we are looking at mid June to purchase
the chicks. I am hoping to learn before then the basics things I need to know to successfully raise them.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You've now read that everyone wants you to have 3-4 chicks. It's already time to expand.
It's always a very risky proposition to just get two chicks. Eventually one will die and the other one's going to be left all alone. It's always better to have 3 to 4.
