Hiya, and welcome to BYC!

We have a border collie we got before chickens and she knew exactly what to do to protect them. We got a corgi after we had chickens, and she learned from the border collie. Thus, we did nothing so I'm no help. If they respect you and what you love, is all I guess works for us with these dogs, but next time, we may not be so lucky.
