I'm trying to get started buying/setting up a new coop and run. We live in a suburb of Phoenix and my chickens were taken by coyotes. Trying to predator proof everything before getting new. We have tall block walls, and my run will need to go behind or under my trees for shade. There is 4 ft behind the trees of clearance. I was considering the omlet cube coop, but need a large prefab run. (I'll add hardware cloth and apron.). It could also be an l shaped run. Any prefab ideas? Predators around here are coyotes, hawks, owls, and bobcats.

As far as prefab runs, I've seen many here that folks got from Amazon or a farm store. I know those that get them usually have to reinforce them. If they come with tarps or coverings, those would last a day here (Wisconsin) in the wind and snow, so something has to be done to reinforce those too.

Here's an article about making a run by reusing material, but they don't mention 1/2" hardware cloth, which is necessary to keep predators out.

I'd also check out your Arizona thread and see what those in your state use, and maybe some would know a store near you that has them.

For a run, it's best for them if you figure out 10-15 square feet per bird. Bantams/silkies would be on the low end of that, larger chickens on the higher end.

Just in case you could possibly build something, here's tons of coop articles. Some might have runs in them too.

Good luck, and welcome to BYC!
