Ty Michael and yes i do fancy the black stars quite a bit my girls are beautiful. They like to sing as my girlfriend says lol I think they are just talking smack. Mine don't lay so well though I've got one that is laying daily and that's it out of my three hens.

You're welcome. There are a number of reasons why hens don't lay; too young or too old, poor health, poor nutrition, molting, broodiness, inadequate light (can especially be a problem in the winter as light striking their pineal gland is what stimulates them to lay), stress caused by a move, change in their environment, barking dogs, predators in the vicinity, etc. Hopefully you can evaluate and figure out which of these is the cause and correct it. Good luck in getting more eggs soon.

Yeah it's not exactly the ideal environment we do have dogs but they've never had an issue directly with them lol we have had two lab pups and three pigs in the same pen and they have laid eggs. None too worried I realize it's winter and they would slow down to even stop. My two blacks are prissy and moody lil girls to begin with hahaha.this last half of the year has been a learning adventure for us we have a tarp covered ten by ten dog pen with a gutted dresser on chairs until we can build some tractors.
