Hi, I’m Lindsay. I have just joined. I have 19 bantams, mostly Perkins, but likely soon to be 18. Feeling a bit sad as one of this year’s baby hens is dying in my kitchen. I suspected botulism. She couldn’t lift her head and neck and was very floppy. That was three days ago. I thought she was a goner. Got her in the warm. Then she made a miraculous recovery. On the third day she had her head up, was cheeping a bit, she drank some water sitting on my lap and I was so happy she was recovering but she has gradually declined again. I’ve tried to get fluids into her today but I’m not sure she can swallow. She isn’t even opening her eyes now. I think she’s going to die. Just trying to keep her warm and comfortable.
