New here from North Florida. Super cold right now and my chickens are not used to this weather at all. My yard looks like it snowed here from them molting. Apparently they didn't get the memo of the temperature change coming. Can they get too cold? If so, what can I do to help them out. They free range daily and up at night. They have shavings in a closed in area where they sleep. Is that enough?

I don't know how cold it's getting there, but usually they do fine. You could up their protein while they are still molting. Some people supplement their usual feed with cat food, sardines, tuna, beef etc. (low or no salt versions would be best.)

If they are not shivering or acting too cold, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!

As long as they have a non drafty place to roost at night it shouldn't be to cold for them. I'm north of you and we never put heat out for adult birds.
