Hello fellow Chicken Peeps, I'm new here, but I have been viewing your threads for about 2 years. Gathering info on poultry. We took the dive into poultry a yr ago, Feb 2023. We started of with 3 Plymouth Barred Rock and 3 Black Australorp. We lost one girl, Black Australorp, shortly after they started laying. A freak accident after viewing security camera. Anyhow, we ordered 3 more chicks; 1 Black Ameraucana, 1 Black Copper Maran and 1 Olive Egger. With our order we received a fourth "mystery chick". So we currently have 9 in total. We have an Aussie, who we rescue at 5 yrs old. He is 9 yrs old this September.
What made me finally join your community? Well, two things. 1. Is our little blue girl Gem. We were assuming she was the mystery chick, being of the Maran family because of the light feathering on bothlegs. But at 11 weeks old she still has a puff on her head. 2. The chick we assumed was our Oliver Egger, Raven, I'm starting to get Roo vibes. This off she didn't have a tail as the rest grew in theirs. I was chalking that up to being 1/2 Ameraucana.
Then I noticed it appeared to have thicker legs. Then when it finally grew in its tail it seems to be very hooked. I have not heard a crow as of yet. I know it's still early.
So, what do you all think
?
Maran pullet and roo Egger? Or Egger pullet and Egger roo? Will Raven have to be Ray? LoL
