(1) hello! I'm not new to chickens. Just had a pause in between flocks. (Had to move) i have 2 that are about a year old that a friend gave me. 2 little chicks that are Chocolate orppingtons. And I have 1 that I rescued from the school I work at that has splayed legs and doesn't walk. (Its giving me newborn baby vibes)

(3) What breeds do you have? 3 unknown and 2 chocolate orpingtons

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Love chicken therapy! They are the best destresser after work.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening and all things sports.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. --I am married to my husband, we have a 12 year old daughter, and my mom lives with us. We have 3 dogs, 5 chickens, and 2 ducks. We live in Oklahoma :)

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community-- praise God for Google. I found BYC when trying to Google my baby chicks ailments

I hatch hundreds of silkie chicks and every so often wind up with one very bull-legged or splayed legs. We use VetWrap to bind the legs but some use a bandaid. Here's an article that explains.

It's very fixable! The ones we've had were perfect again in a couple of days. It's also a good idea to give them some vitamin water every other day, alternating with fresh water. The extra vitamin boost helps them too. We use Poultry Cell or Nutri-Drench.
