Good morning to my fellow chicken raisers. I am a California girl born an raised and moved to a little town in mayflower arkansas 2 years ago and in August I decided I wanted to get some chickens and what a great joy they have brought in my life. I am 67 years old and I love it. I have 3 out of my 11 that are laying now my barnyard started 3 weeks ago and I was so happy when I opened the cooper door and saw that egg right there. Then I have 3 Easter two have started laying 10 days ago and were supposed to lay blue eggs but came out ivory. So now I get 3 eggs a day. I have 6 RIR and another barnyard and that's my flock and can't wait to get more in March. Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching one of my Easter lay her egg and as it came out she had blood around where it was coming out and the egg had blood on it any suggestions. Well that's a little about me look forward to you replays and posting.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Aren't chickens fun to keep? They bring so much joy, they are intelligent, affectionate, just all around wonderful birds!

Once in a while hens will lay eggs with blood on them, especially those that lay very large eggs. The vent stretches a bit too far and a little blood will flow from the surrounding tissue. If this becomes a huge problem, you might post out in our forums. But if it's only an occasional thing, it's not something to really be concerned with.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our community!
