My jersey giant hen is molting and is missing big patches of feathers. She pretty much has no tail and all her feathers look really loose. She is acting like she is tired and maybe a little droopy. I’m pretty sure she’s still eating and drinking and acting like a normal chicken. Do you guys think she’s sick? Or do you think the molt is just making her tired and droopy? She will be three in February and is on chick grower (I have a rooster, cockerel, and pullets in the coop) I do provide oyster, egg shells, and grit most of the time. I say most of the time because I’ll usually put it out every week.

Molting is painful, she probably doesn't feel good.
Yogurt, electrolytes in water and tuna is some things I give to boost their well being during this time especially a hard molt.

Fyi...I would recommend offering oyster shell and grit free choice all the time in a separate dish.

I thought so just wanted to get some second opinions. Can young pullets have electrolytes?

I try to keep a separate dish full at all times but it’s their delight to kick it all out! 🤣
