Not laying

It isn't really the cold that stops them from laying, as I understand it, but the lack of daylight hours. They need 14 hours of light but it doesn't even have to be bright light. So she must have had enough during that winter to trigger ovulation. Keep us posted.

I am having the same problem my hen suddenly stopped laying about a month ago. She did lay all winter and she is about 14 months old. I am very perplexed.

It might help to start a new thread about your hen. What are you feeding, and do you have crushed oyster shell available? Has anything changed in the flock dynamics recently? Is she losing any feathers or looking a little unkempt?
