I was here quite some time ago, then drifted away. Now I am hatching eggs for the first time since I was just a little girl helping my grandma.......I am now 70! I have had chickens, guineas, ducks and even a peacock for many years but now I have a very small, older flock of only 5 left and since the availability of chicks, the price and availability of eggs plus the reliability of shipping them is less than normal, I decided it was time to just hatch my own. My babies will be a cross of australorp and barred rock,
got the eggs from a friend who lives near by. I am on day 11 in the incubator. I put in 18 eggs and when I candled I had two quitters so they went out. I've got the brooder ready so just anxiously waiting my last candling and then on day 18 taking the turner out and doing lock down. I visit this site for ideas and who knows what else I can learn!! Thanks for having me back!
