Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

@Yukiko, maybe after they find the archives for the auction they can find another document that lists Tobias as part of the rebellion so we can skip the whole investigation with them trying to find out where Tobias and Eclipse are
Also, just for note, this scene is happening at the same time Alicanto's first scene is
Yeah! That's a good idea.

We are waiting for Matty to return from a camping trip before we reach the last Checkpoint.
Ok! Also the checkpoint I mentioned in my last post was the one in the mountains when they first talked.
Right ok I’ll try my best lol. It’s hard because I’m trying not to deviate from his “canon” too too much so im holding back 😭

Phoenix followed King’s gaze, noting how his brow creased with worry. “Uh… yeah,” she said. “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention- did you see something?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corvus had circled Grebe’s Nest twice before he spotted Phoenix’s distinctive fiery feathers. He nearly toppled out of the sky with relief.
The black feathered dragon dove down to her, his mind reeling. “Phoenix!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Phoenix whirled in the air at the sound of her name. Corvus was speeding towards her, looking agitated. She felt a flash of irritation, but she stomped it down. He looked upset. “Corvus?! What-“

Corvus nearly crashed into Phoenix, grabbing her talons. “Phoenix- we have to go!” he was breathing hard and Phoenix noticed he was bleeding from a few spots.

“Corvus! What happened, you’re bleeding!” she cried, trying to free her talons, but Corvus only held on tighter.

“My grandfather- V-Vulture-,” he panted. Phoenix was alarmed. She’d never seen him like this before. “Breathe,” she said, trying for a soothing voice and probably failing.

Corvus squeezed his eyes shut. “He’s found me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corvus could tell Phoenix didn’t understand how bad this was.
She looked alarmed, her blue eyes wide. King hovered nearby, scanning the ground below. Had he seen something?
“Corvus, I- what happened?” Phoenix cried. Corvus could see her feathers sparking.
Corvus glanced around, ears flattened to his head. “It’s not safe,” he said. “We can’t- we can’t talk about it here.”
His heart was racing and his mouth felt dry. The reality of the situation was starting to hit him. He was almost captured. If the mutant had succeeded, Corvus would be Vulture’s puppet.
He would never get to say goodbye to Phoenix.
The thought made his heart twist.
And it could still happen. It wasn’t safe. He wasn’t safe. Nobody was safe.
There’s nothing I can do. I can’t. He’ll kill me.
He’ll kill her.
It’s not safe for her here.
He looked around.
Oh, MOONS. That creature is probably still around. He’s- he’s seen me with her, he knows-
“Phoenix, we have to leave, it’s not safe for you here, he’ll use you- please,” his breathing was speeding up, he felt out of control. He realized his claws were digging into Phoenix’s talons and he recoiled, pulling them close to his chest.
“I-..” he started to answer, before a voice erupted behind them, filled with panic and worry.
“Phoenix!” The black dragon shouted.
“Corvus? What-.” Phoenix replied confused.
The two began conversing in panicked voices, Corvus was obviously startled by something.
“My grandfather…V-vulture…”
Vulture? The mad dragon? The hybrid scientist? Crap. Grandfather?! Double crap.
“No-no-no don’t leave, I’m sure we can figure this out. Let’s get down to the ground and you can explain what’s going on.” He said, an air of authority taking over and his commander voice returning as if he was on another mission.
Phoenix glanced at King. “What do you-“
“No!” Corvus interrupted. “It’s not safe here.”
Phoenix noticed that even King seemed alarmed. He seemed to know something she didn’t.
Corvus never talked about his past much with her. But she knew that Vulture was dangerous.
Corvus reached out to her again, his wings brushing hers as they hovered. “Please,” he begged.
Phoenix looked at King again, unsure.
“Do you have a place we can go talk about this?” She asked.
"Yes."
Whitestar slid through the small door behind Austin, trying to calm his adrenaline-charged heart.
"You know where we're going, right?" he hissed to the human, keeping his voice low and glancing cautiously over his shoulder.
@Yukiko
Austin let out a breath when he heard Whitestar's voice. The dragon had followed him in. Making his way down the hall, he tried to recall the building from the couple times he was assigned to keep watch. Walking casually like he was supposed to be there, he slipped down a corridor to his left and looked at the signs next to the doors. They had letters on them going all the way through the alphabet. Can't be the dragon floor. Too many letters.
He turned another corridor, but this corridor had many people walking back and forth down it. Keeping his head lower, he slid past people and hoped that Whitestar would find a way to get around the people in the hallway.
"We have to get his records out of here," came a voice near one of the doors. There were three people outside of the door labled "T" and Austin kept his ears perked on their conversation.
"Yes, yes, I know. If word gets out that August Tobias was in the rebellion along with all the other well-known dragon owners, we could lose business."
Mr. Tobias in the rebellion huh? I wonder how much they had to pay him to get him to join them.
Turning down another hall, Austin forced himself to slow down. He'd gotten some strange looks from some other workers as he briskly walked down the hall. Cutting his speed in half, he made his way to the stairs, knowing that Whitestar wouldn't be able to fit in the elevator. He glanced back and forth and entered the staircase. Quietly, he made his way up the stairs. "Whitestar, we're going to have to check each level."
After a bit of climbing up steps, he exited the stairs into the second floor. In front of them loomed many groups of desks and computers. Offices, dang it.
They made their way back to the stairs and to the third floor. Also a full alphabet. Can't be dragons.
He motioned back towards the stairs with a slight movement of his hand, but was stopped by a voice, "Hey! What do you think you're doing up here?"
Austin's heart jumped and he slowly turned around, getting back into character. "I'm doin my job, you twit!"
Looking at the guard addressing him, he could see the confusion and suspicion. "Well, I'm on duty up here sir. Didn't you already get some people?"
"Yes, yes I did. I'm up here to report! Am I supposed to report to you? I don't think so!" Austin was trying really hard to intimidate and he hoped it worked, but he wasn't sure how long he could keep up the charade. They would have to move fast.
The other guard was taken aback by the angry tone and backed away to his route of security, "Ok, sir, just asking."
Quickly, he made his way to the stairs and he whispered, "We have to move fast, I think they're onto me."
Looking into the next floor's door, he saw offices again and skipped the floor. Please let the next floor be it. His heart was racing and sweat became an ever-present feeling. He opened the door wide and walked in, allowing Whitestar to follow. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as the signs showed the breeds of dragons. He followed the signs down until he saw a newer room that read "Lunarwing". He grabbed the doorknob and twisted.
His heart dropped. It's locked?!
It had never crossed his mind and he cursed himself for not thinking of that. He looked around the hallways for people when objects on the ceiling caught his eye. Security cams.
If he broke down the door, they would see and be there in minutes. They wouldn't have much time. Though, they shouldn't be hard to find because they'd never really had Lunarwings in the Den. Taking a breath, he turned to Whitestar, or where he hoped Whitestar was. "Break it down."
Whitestar hesitated, glancing around the hallway the same way Austin had.
How many times can I safely use my power? Is there a limit? If there is, how much of it have I used up? What if I already have?
Whitestar took a deep breath, trying to calm his swirling thoughts.
I have to. For now. Hopefully, this will be the last time.
Enchant this door to unlock.
He heard the latch click, glancing over his shoulder again at the narrow hallways of the building.
