Maybe so...my 6 mos olds do not appear to be molting, but I know they are, as they've shed feathers and they look amazing. A few of my seniors are looking rough around the edges for sure! They're also ALL quite moody, downright grumpy! Well, extra protein & mealworms for all.

Okay. Pullets don’t molt or don’t molt much.

But if you compare the molt of adult hens (over a year old) with real seniors , like more then 3, 4, 5, or 6 years old, is there a difference? I didn't notice. But there are differences from year to year.

I don't... Have a cancer patient in the house undergoing treatment so she can't come in, also dh is allergic. These sweaters are designed for molting chickens so I'm not sure about the problem when it's going to get below freezing, she needs to have something so that's what I'm doing. There's going to be radiant heat too, but once the freezing rain starts it won't be enough to cut the cold, she needs a layer on her.

LF Dark Cornish. 2.5 years old. She looks quite freaky.
