For a maintenance dose yes.Can you not put the seven dust in the area they dust bath in all the time?
There is a spray for bed bugs that is permethrin based and an aerosol.
Basically instant death to bugs in the coop.
My run in with mites were the tiny nearly microscopic ones. They were in the external nest box my broody was in. Pissed me off and Home depot was out of sevin dust. I got the bed bug spray and it was instant bug death. I had enough sevin to dust the birds. I did do the repeat seven days later.
Cap if you have a big tote you can set the bird in there and work the powder in all over. I have also read that a plastic bag, lower bird in, hold closed around neck and give them the shake-n-bake treatment. I think their claws would rip the bag and still make a mess.
Do wear a dust mask when treating the birds and coop.
It so sucks you lost her that way.
I get an empty sauce jar and take a nail and poke holes in the top. Fill it with poultry dust and shake it on them. Tomorrow i will pick up each one and sprinkle some underneath. And i sprinkled some in the litter as well. As soon as my permethrin spray gets here i will clean out everything. Yeah, i have lost 6 out of 12 Speckled Sussex since mid August. It bites. There is a spray for bed bugs that is permethrin based and an aerosol.

Definitely worth a try! We have one in our yard and it works great. Hubby keeps the monitor part next to his desk.https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-0209...451&sr=8-12&keywords=acurite+humidity+monitor
Thoughts on this for in the coop? I have a regular one out there but want to monitor better while using the heat light. Wondered if this would work. I can check from the house and not have to gear up and trudge out there.
This is how I applied the poultry dust.It is good to put in pantyhose and dust the birds and area.
Me too, i have 2 more that look iffy. I picked one up tonight but did not see mites or eggs on her. I put a heat lamp in there to try and help the sick ones. Don't freak out, it is in a wooden box frame closed in with hardware cloth and screwed to the divider. Not tipping over no way, no how. That would be effective Sassy.
Just hate losing birds so hoping yours get better Cap.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.
I was thinking that could be something you could do once a week just to be proactive and possibly put some under the bedding and leave it thereFor a maintenance dose yes.
For an active infestation the bird should be treated individually. The powder gets basically diluted by the dust while they scratch around in it. Last ones in will likely not get enough. That and birds that feel poorly won't dust bathe.
