If you cannot find a new home for them, I can be a last resort. I try and save roosters and let them live out their lives. So I am not after any for consumption.Anyone looking for a Lavender Orpington Roo in NE Ohio? I have 2 right now that are needing new homes
Hello ClevelandRick,We have three beautiful, 3-year-old hens that we are forced to rehome because we are moving and cannot take them with us. We are heartbroken about it, but we do not have a choice. All three were hatched on April 17, 2022, and have been in our care since. All received MRK Marek's (HVT) vaccinations and there have been zero health or behavioral issues with any of them, other than one being mildly aggressive with me (pecking at me) when I haven't given her enough treats!
They've been on a diet of mostly commercial pellets, subsidized with kitchen and lawn scraps and chicken treats. The breeds are Green Queen, Blue Splash Marans, and BNVF Barnevelder-- all chosen for Northern Ohio's climate, temperament, and egg production. All are strong layers-- giving us 4-5 eggs each, per week during prime time. Pictures are attached.
If you are interested in taking them in, please contact me. They will be available for pickup next week-- we want at least one more week with them. Also, I would like to know your experience and your intentions for housing and caring for them, please.View attachment 4109501View attachment 4109502View attachment 4109503View attachment 4109504View attachment 4109505
Thank you! You don't know what a relief it is to know they will end up somewhere safe! I'll continue to keep the request open for others, and I have posted in a couple of local FB groups. I will let you know within a week or so if I've had any success or if I need "the last resort!" Again, thank you. We've been having anxiety about this for a while.Hello ClevelandRick,
I've been taking in roosters/hens that need rehoming. My intentions are to allow for them to live out their normal lives, without fear of being served at the dinner table. So, I offer myself as a last resort, if you can not find anywhere/one else offering to take them in. if you require further information, DM me.
Alot of us know about the anxieties this particular situation causes. All of our chickens and ducks are pets to us and are spoiled as much as possible.Thank you!
