One is 6 weeks old and the other is 7 weeks old. "A" hasn't crowed yet, but the comb and wattles look very pink for the age... "B" has crowed twice in 7 weeks, but the comb is still pale in comparison with the brother (pictured in 1st comment below) who has a dark red, larger comb. I was hoping the crowing was just *it* being an alpha female competing with the brother for pecking order power. The wattles on "B" are more skin color, so not even pink yet. The wings do have some orange developing, which I know is a male trait, but the father is a Buff Ameraucana/Legbar hybrid, so the leakage in the neck and wings is the same color as the father.

Just want to confirm before I take them to auction on Friday.

If responding, please refer to them as A. or B.

Mixes like Olive and Easter Eggers are a little harder to sex young but I'm going to go with A is a pullet and B is a cockerel.

B's comb looks pretty well developed for a chick that age and the fact you've heard him crow. While females will crow it's pretty unlikely they'll crow that young. Especially repeatedly. A hen may crow later upon maturity if there's no other roosters around.

A is a little harder. More opinions would be good.

Edit: can you take a full body pic of A?

B is 100% a cockerel. A full body photo of A would help, but I’m leaning cockerel for him too.

@WingItRanch: I'm tagging you, too. See attached full-body photo of the 6-week-old chick in question. Father is shown in my profile pic and mother is a Blue Olive Egger. I was praying this was a pullet because it's the only chick that was black for the 1st hatch of this roo. Body shape is more hen-like than the siblings, but that comb and wattles are so dark for the age...

Hmmm. I'm leaning toward cockerel now that I see the full body. I think you're gut is right. You mention the comb and wattles but those legs are pretty big too.

Yep, I’m leaning cockerel as well. The coloration looks female, but he’s too young yet to be showing full male feathering. And those legs are huge! If you can, I’d keep him for another few weeks and just make sure he’s a cockerel, cause I’m still kinda on the fence with this one.
