Omelette's in ziploc bags!

Fascinating! I'd be interested in hearing how they turned out, if anyone tries this. They sound like they'd turn out like a cross between an omelet and a scrambled egg.

I wonder if you could freeze the pre-cooked bag of omelette, and take it out and boil it at a later date? How handy would that be???

They are wonderful and very easy to make. Just make sure you boil it long enough!

When I was watching the show, Paula took one out and dumped it on the plate, and it looked very much like a regular omelette. I was pretty amazed, because it just looked like a bag of scrambled eggs when she threw it in the pan.

I have tried this a while back and it is VERY convienient for gatherings when no one wants the same thing. They do come out looking a little "weird", but tastes more like an omlette than scrambled eggs. I like to top them when they come out with salsa or a little cheese, helps to dress them up a bit. I don't know about freezing them.....I didn't think you could freeze egg yolks?? Maybe someone else knows....
They are good though! Just make sure you cook them long enough.

we do this in scouts usually for our sunday breakfast, just boil water put ingredients in bag and when your done only cleanup is forks or get disposable utensil dump water and go home. Like I said we do it in scouts, we just crack the eggs into the baggies, use good bags (ziplock freezer). we cook for 5 or so minutes then pull them out and using glove or heavy kitchen towel press them so the inside which may not be cooked reaches the outside then put them back in and cook till no more runny egg, may not look quite as preatty but it wasn't gonna go down whole anyway. Scouts never care about presentation anyway they just want thier eggs. If you want ketchup or diced tomatoes add them after cooking. We cook ours in a large pot over a turkey deepfryer burner. if not using good bags you end up with watery eggs.

I have done this at home several times. You really have to cook it a little longer than it says to. I found mine to be mushy in the middle.I don't know. It's just not the same as cooking in a pan, but I know it's better for you. It's a great activity to do with kids. Mery

Just tried it. Freezer bag melted and stuck to the side of the pot. After 8 minutes, I took it out, poured it in the plate, and about half of it wasn't cooked. Had to finish in the microwave and clean plastic off one of my wife's pots.

Give me a frying pan and a spatula.
