All my chickens are 15 weeks old from Meyer Hatchery.

Chicken A. Definitely a cockerel. But what breed? The barred pattern seems pretty common. I would say he's mid-sized among the birds I've got. And it doesn't show well in the picture, but his ears have a definite green hue to them.

Chicken B. Mottled Ancona. But is this a pullet almost ready to lay or a cockerel? I've got 3 Anconas and only this one has a red comb and wattle. The first two pictures feature the bird in question. The third is there to show the contrast between her(him?) and my other anconas. This one was supposed to be a sexed birth

P.S. Does the red one in that last pic look more like RIR or NHR? He's braver than my other cockerels and seems more interested in taking care of pullets than what I've seen from the others. If he stays ahead of the competition, he has a very decent shot at a long life.

Hi, chicken A is a Cream Legbar, and chicken B is a cockerel. The comb and waddle are too large to be a pullet. The red chicken looks more like a RIR, since their feathers are slightly darker than those of a NHR.

Your birds are so pretty by the way:D

I agree that the first pic is a Crested Cream Legbar cockerel.

Anconas are known for having very large combs. Even the females. At 15 weeks, it's possible that the comb would be that large. However, it's quite red and my Ancona didn't turn that red until she was POL around 27 weeks old.

I think I see pointy hackle feathers on yours but hard to tell from the photo. If so, a cockerel.

On Chicken A, I definitely see what you're saying. Cream Legbar. He tread on a pullet this afternoon. She wasn't too thrilled with it. Hopefully, he learns some manners.

Good to know on Chicken B. I'll keep an eye on that one. Might have to call Meyer. This would be a precocious pullet for that breed. If a cockerel, he's actually behind the others, though the breed is relatively slow to mature.

That's what I thought, but, sometimes, he seems just a bit lighter.

Thanks! I'm enjoying the variety. I think that cockerel behind the RIR is my most beautiful bird, though I haven't been able to identify his breed.

Your Ancona I believe is a pullet. I see no male feathering, and by fifteen weeks there certainly should be with such a fast-maturing breed. Size wise she definitely looks like a pullet.

I agree that one cockerel is a cream Legbar and the other looks like a Rhode Island Red, as he is pretty dark. I’m not sure what the brown barred one is, but he’s sure handsome!

The comb and wattle went from resembling those of the other two pullets to larger and redder very quickly. I first noticed this one was developing less than a week ago.
