One egg lost 27% weight by day ten, others fine! Help!

Hey guys, please help a little newbie!

I have three silkie eggs in my incubator which are on day 11. When I did my check in last night to weigh them and candle, they all looked good. Movement, good blood vessels etc. However when I weighed them, one of the eggs has lost 12 GRAMS since it went in (it was only 42g at the start) The other two have only lost 3 and 4 respectively.

I can't for the life of me work out why this is. I have looked for a crack in the egg and can find nothing. They're all in the same incubator, I have 4 hygrometers in there with them all in separate corners, all reading the same give or take tiny fluctuations. Is this common? It doesn't seem normal from what I am reading... in fact very worrying.

I've added a picture from candling last night. Is the air cell too big for day 11? It does have a bit of saddling on the other side which you can kind of see in picture two, but all three all do as they were shipped and this one isn't any bigger than the others.

I have another incubator, would it be worth putting it in there for a couple of days with a bit higher humidity?

Appreciate any insights as I can't find much online... I'm expecting the little baby to quit on me and it's really sad!

You didn't mention what humidity you are running now.

I hatch a ton (a lot of shipped eggs too) and never weigh the eggs or pay attention to their air cells except for the occasional one on the side.

Humidity is 40-45% until day 16/17, then 65-70%. (I do lockdown 4-5 days as sometimes silkies hatched way early). If you maintain 99.5F temp, and humidity around what most of us do as noted above, they should be fine.

Sorry I should have mentioned about the humidity, the average so far is around 45% across 4 hygrometers (yes I know it’s excessive it wasn’t intentional )

Thanks so much for the tip on lockdown too, I have read they hatch early and I have been trying to work out if they are still successful if you put them in lockdown that early. Welcome any other tips on this if you have any!

Just to share that I went back and looked at the video I made of me weighing the eggs when they went in today, and out of 6 eggs, for some reason it seems that the scale decided to add another 9g before I put the egg on! No idea why as for all of the others it was 0.

So happy it wasn’t this huge loss!!!
