One of my chickens laid her first egg and seems distressed now that it's gone

Two of my chickens laid their first eggs today, and we took them from the coop. One of them (who we're pretty sure laid one of the eggs) is now acting fairly distressed. She is clucking very loudly whenever she sees me, and is going up to poke around in the coop much more than usual. We gave them some treats and she calmed down a bit, but is there anything wrong? Or is she just upset we took her egg?

It takes some time for them to get use to this new thing of an egg popping out. She may stop with the clucking. I do have a couple that I have to tell "congratulations" for them to stop clucking. And then I have Clarabelle who tells the whole neighborhood "I have just done the impossible and laid an egg"
Some are just louder than other. You can put fake eggs in the coop to try to help with the distress or even leave the eggs in the nesting box until the afternoon.

The only time a chicken is truly “distressed” about her eggs being taken is when she’s broody. Even then, if she’s off the nest when the egg is taken, she won’t know it because chickens can’t count. At least mine never learned. Broodies don’t like anyone messing with their nest when they’re on it.

I’m guessing your pullet is just trying to figure out what happened.
