So I am deciding whether or not to free range my chickens. In my yard there is a whole lot of onion grass. I've heard that onion grass makes their eggs taste different. Is this true?

Wild onions are so plentiful here that it smells like we're cooking onion soup when we mow the lawn. HOWEVER, the chickens don't seem to favor eating those; they'd rather have the dandelions and clover. I wouldn't worry about it -- they aren't likely to eat enough to make a noticeable difference.

If you like "onion-ed" eggs, by all means, cook them like omelets!

Most of my chickens would peck at it but eat it? Not really!

I pasture on both field and forest and the chickens pick and choose what they want. They have been enjoying pecking away in a swamp which has 3 inches of water. My attitude is that they have lived for eons without someone giving them chicken feed, they know what is best for themselves. And it really cuts down on feed costs and I feel that the eggs are much better quality.

I have it in my run and all over the yard and the chickens don't mess with it. They just eat around it. They eat most of the other weeds and grass though.
