The primary reason for pop doors is protection from predators. Fabric or plastic strips isn't going to work. If both your coop and attached run are completely secure then you don't need a pop door. My coop doesn't have one.

Is your run and coop predator proof?
Can you post pics? If coop and run are attached and completely predator proof you don't need a pop door and they should be fine with the door left open (or even removed).Yes, both are enclosed completely
