Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

The larger printable map does not work! It ends up in a "webpage not found" error! Thanks for working on this

To get specific about loading/unloading -- I see the "drop off route" marked, but it doesn't show if we can pull our trucks up to the building, unload, and then drive around to the parking (I'm slightly disabled and it's an important question for me). Is there a space to do that?

Another question - what is the exact size space we are going to be set up in? It makes a difference whether it's 10' x 2' or 10'x8' - at least for me! I'm sure this is a quick answer for whoever has a map - I'm trying to figure out my setup now, since I'm sharing a spot with OregonBlues and there are two tables.

Thanks a lot!! I'm getting really excited/nervous!

I saw last night that crossroads has 10,250 entered. I don't know for sure but that came from a good source who is going.

Wow! Where is that one? I'm not really up on the show scene since I don't show birds...I get blown away by the Ohio National. It's is like dying and going to chicken heaven
lol.png

I am not sure but think it is the same one you are talking about. coming in a couple weeks. That is a little bit of why not so many at stevenson as some were holding back for that.

I'm sure Alexis will fix the map issue today...as far as drop off area, yes you can pull your vehicles up to the building, drop off (and reload) then go back out and park. The parking area is a fairly short walk to the building. The fairgrounds will have the south gate open for us so we can use that.

As far as the exact space stuff, I really don't know till I get to building and people start showing up. We are going to have to squeeze together, 10' tables as close as possible with walking room behind it so people can see your crates of birds if needed. I know I will have my birds on the floor behind me and will allow people to back there to look. I'm also keeping my birds covered simply because I want to protect them as much as possible from the traffic and other poultry. If you don't need a 10' table, less is good.

I pretty sure the thinking is you have your table and you have enough space behind your table to sit or put your crates, stuff etc. I highly doubt it will be 10x10 or 10x8 simply because we will not have the space for that but maybe Alexis can shed more light on this because she is the one in charge of table space set up due to her experience with setting up in this building. We have over 60 vendors coming now so it's going to be a full building but I'm fairly certain it will all work out. A lot of people are not bringing tables, just chairs and their crates so that will make it a bit easier in some spots. This is one of the reasons we want everyone there early so we can get everything set up and worked out

It's the Crossroads of America show at Indy. It's also the APA and ABA nationals this time.

Ah very cool! I might have to check that one out one year

I'm sorry if the link to the map is not working for some people. It appears to have had some issue this morning, like maybe no coffee?
hu.gif
Anyway, the text links work just fine so use those for the PDF version. If you click the map itself you should see a webpage version of the image. It has been tested on several browsers, by several different individuals with no problems. If you'd like, I can directly email you a PDF - just PM me if you're having difficulties and I'd be happy to help

In the meanwhile, here is a photo file of the same map so at least you can see it from right here...

A few details...

~The "DROP OFF ROUTE" is fully accessible to vehicles or vehicles with trailers - AS LONG AS PEOPLE DON'T PARK ALL CRAZY LIKE! Stay to the edges, so people can make full turns with large vehicles. I believe if it gets cramped, we can drive around the cow barns to come back around. There is more than one way to get around in the fairgrounds, this map is just to keep things streamlined and safe. If you see someone outside showing you where to go, please just go there. Any volunteers we have helping are just that - volunteers - and they are there to help you, not to annoy you.

~YES, you can pull up to the building, or close by, and unload. Then park out in the parking lot and walk in. Maybe if I got a big enough tip, I'd even do valet service
lol.png
Some of these details simply depend on who gets there before you. Ideally it will look like this: get in, unload, get out.

~Don't expect to have more than a 10 ft table MAXIMUM, plus your chair and some walking room behind your table with your chicken crates (unless you have really large items like chicken tractors). Please use the space UNDER your tables as well as on top when at all possible. Like ZooMummzy stated, there is a lot of people signed up to display at this event, and we are going to have to play some of it by ear as we go along. I just ask that we all decide ahead of time to be agreeable, and flexible. Then it's a guarantee that we will have a great time!

I'm bringing several tables that people are borrowing, but they are only six feet. Not everyone will have the larger size of 10 feet. Please offer to share space if you are not using all of what you have.

Please ask more questions if you have them!

We need a golf cart
big_smile.png

Thank you Alexis for clarifying all this! As she said, there are several ways to get around the fairgrounds and all are fairly easy. The only thing the staff at the fairgrounds asked is that we are respectful to the other events going on that day. Most of them will be using the other parking lots due to the locations of their events and the south lot is really huge. It's the one they use for fair parking.
