Hello! I got a Buff Orpington from Meyer hatchery and she is six months old. She just grew some feet feathers and I’m kind of confused. This is the first time that I’ve seen any sort of feathering on her, I know that we do not have feathered feet. Does anyone know what this is?

One of my four Bielefelders (a clean legged breed) has feather nubs, like what you've shown in your pictures. They never got any more developed than that. Not sure what's going on, but I'm not looking for SOP or show quality in this bird, so I don't really care.

Thank you! I guess i just have to buy some more birds to make up for her :( (we were planning on showing). But that's okay because shes not the best quality anyway LOL
If you are planning on showing do not buy from a hatchery. Even without the stubs, she wouldn't be show quality. Buy from a breeder who breeds to the SOP. Even breeder birds can have stubs sometimes though. People just pull them off for show.

Yeah, I do silkies and GL bantam wyandottes from breeders and I get them at the national poultry show. She would have been in the egg-laying class for over a year at my 4H fair. I only do silkies and wyandottes at nationals and the 4H fair (for breeding, not egg layer class). For the egg-laying class, it doesn't matter how the bird looks because the judge just feels the size of the back end. If I pull off the stubs I guess I will take her. I know she's not showing quality, mainly due to her comb, waddle, and whole head. Her feet were better, but it's been cold so they got worse. I don't love her tail feathers either.
