Welcome to my first hatch-a-long, I am starting with 12 call duck eggs. 😊

Timeline:
- May 13/2024 - eggs shipped from Nova Scotia
- May 14/2024 - eggs arrived! (Saskatchewan)
Day 0 (May 15/2024)- @ 2030 eggs set in incubator (turner not started as some air pockets moving)
temp 99F 52% humidity (higher then I wanted but my hydrometer had not arrived yet…I worked this out after the fact)
- Day 4 automatic turning started
- Day 7 weights done and noted to have not enough fluid loss so decreased humidity to 50% (new hydrometer set). Blood vessels visible in all 12 eggs
- Day 10 started cooling eggs for 15 min each day and movements noted in 6 eggs.
- Day 12 movement noted in all 12 eggs! 🥳
Oh that so cute !!!

I wish you the best of luck with your little duck adventures!!

I saw some call ducklings for sale last month and it took all of me not to get them! They are so darn cute!!

I do plan on getting all sorts of birds at some point, but for now that aviary area is a WIP. It is a 110 ft × 75 ft area (8,250 square feet) not including the coop that is steadily growing larger the more chickens I have.

It is so fascinating to watch them growing.

I'm not a duck person (I would like to have ducks but I'm being responsible and not getting any 🤣), how many days for the call ducks to incubate in total?
Lol my daughter talked me into getting ducks, we had running ducks before but this is our first hatch out of ducks. 😊

The jury is out on the specific time frame it is somewhere around 26 days for call ducks.
