Are turkeys like chickens, do they need oyster shells? My turkey hen just turned 8 months old, so I'm figuring she should be laying soon. I didn't know if I needed to put a bowl of oyster shells out for her. She isn't getting to free range due the 50" of snow on the ground. So they have been in the barn most of the winter, only getting to come out maybe once a week, when the temp is above 25 degrees. Do I need to have a nest the barn for her? I haven't seen any action from our tom, only his dance.

If there not laying I would give them some grit, if they are laying then give them the oyster shells. Either way they do need something in their gizzards to help digestion.
