Pallet garden inside chicken run

I started my garden due to a hawk too. They are definitely looking at it longingly. I cant wait to let them in and see what they do. Mine is in a shady area of the run, so Ive planted lettuces and herbs that like the shade, but my wheat grass is going strong over there too. Hopefully these plantings will last well into the fall.

We have 3 babies that are 4 weeks old and 2 babies that are 2 weeks old.

I am using 4 old dresser drawers as my garden boxes. I figured I could switch them out every week with a new garden. We have a fully enclosed run and coop with a floor due to predators. Just trying to figure out what would be best to plant and keep cost down.

RenaGyou could plant perennial grasses in the run and section off with bird netting and bamboo poles to allow for regrowth. Just go to your local feed store and inquire. I bought wheat grass seeds to 50¢ a lb. That's a lot of seed! I've read that it is best to have a mixture of grasses so the chickens will get a variety of nutrients. I plan ted some pallets with veggie seeds too, but the grasses are definitely a more instant gratification thing to plant if you want them to be ae to forage in the run more quickly.
