I'm glad you had two successful hatches. Celebrate the hatched. Other than learning for another time, don't frett over the losses. Unfortunately some are unable to hatch no matter what the human or the broody does.
Wise. I will feel better when i am more knowledgeable and confident about what to do and when to intervene.

Hi. They are so far. Thank you. I have a problem though. A guest gave them..well one of them veg without permission and I don't have any grit and no stores anywhere near here at all. Do you think I could put coarse sand and tiny rocks from my driveway in the brooder? Apparently one of them ate a few peas! 2 days old..not even. I am really worried

Yes I have used sand from my driveway. I just put it in a separate dish. I think your ducklings will be ok. They are hardier than we think.

I add tiny gravel from outside when my littles need grit. I'm always amazed at how much they take. I'm sure your ducklings will be fine. Peas are pretty squishy.
