Hey, all!
I am looking to purchase some Shetland Hen chicks. It appears my only two options are Greenfire Farms (won’t ship until May) or Paradise Poultry in Hawaii with a march ship date. Has anyone had any experience with Paradise Poultry? I can’t find any reviews online.

Thanks, peeps!!!

Maybe PM this person? They ordered from them and could probably give you insight:

I bought four live Bresse chicks from a local farm in Hawaii called, Paradise Poultry. I ended up with 3 males and 1 female. The males had different tones of blue on their legs from light to dark and the female had yellow legs with blue splotches on its toes. I wrote to them asking them what they crossed their Bresse chicken with and they said they got their line from green fire farms and they didn't cross it. Then they went on to say they use the hens with yellow legs for eggs and they cull the males with yellow legs. This tells me they crossed it with a leg horn and won't admit to it.

I have breese chickens from two other farms and none of their off springs have yellow legs.. Also the hen with yellow legs is very small in comparison to the hens from the other farms. Furthermore the Bresse roosters from Paradise Poultry bite.

I ordered from them before, but I only ordered 5 chicks, so shipping was expensive in comparison to free shipping for 15 chicks from McMurray Hatchery and I live on a neighbor island.

I was referred to Paradise Poultry by a neighbor and bought qty. 12, 1 day old SDL Barnevelder chicks. I also received 1 Black Copper Marans chick as a free bonus. I live on the Big Island and was able to pick up locally and visit their farm. The 12 week ETA from when I placed the order was pretty accurate.

The main chicken coops (from what I saw) are set up "aviary style" if I'm using that term correctly. A long row of separate chicken habitats; each with a ~8' x 16' coop and 20' fenced-in "front yard". It's totally open, no netting or anything so they free range around the farm, but many also ran and congregated in their respective areas when I pulled up. The chickens have leg bands to help keep track of who is who and the farmer has genetic testing done selectively, to help prioritize egg color over other standards when breeding. E.g. Cream Legbars that are homozygous for the blue egg gene. I don't think I saw the breeding facilities, if separate.

My birds appear to be growing up healthy and not exhibiting any health issues. Attached are pictures from when I took them home on day 2 and again from today at 4 weeks.

I placed another order for 12 more Black Copper Marans, bred for darkest egg color and 4 of those homozygous blue egg gene Cream Legbar cockrels.
