I'm just wondering if this is normal after cleaning pasty butt? Is she just inflamed a little or is this a prolapse? Should I put Vaseline on her butt to help with it ? It is sticking out a little so I was hoping just swollen.Poop is lose and a light brown color

We need to know how this chick is behaving. Is it acting normal like the others? Or is the chick chirping non-stop, squatting often and straining to poop? What all are you feeding? Are you offering chick grit? Is this chick drinking a lot more water than the others?

You need to use warm compresses to try to soften the poop accumulation. You need to be able to see if this is a prolapse or if it's just stubborn poop crust. We are not able to tell this from a two dimensional photo. You must be our eyes and sense of touch and describe it after you are done cleaning it.

I apologize for not giving more info. the chick is chirping on except for when it is under one of the other chickens or is warm and happy. It does seem a little bow legged like the legs are a little wider and the but looks extended a little like swollen outward like in the third photo. She is eating an drinking( fresh clean water and chicken starter with grit. Her crop does seem empty now. Haven't seen her do it more than the others. The vent seems extended a bit outward on the top and bottom. Wasn't sure if that was just a little swollen. I soaked her in a little warm bath, let the poop dissolve ajd then used a qtip to gently wipe away til she pooped. She didn't seem to struggle when she was cleaned and pooped on the towel...

A baby chick's vent tissue is easily inflamed by rubbing to clean it. Try to avoid any but very gentle wiping.

The black crust concerns me. If that is scabby tissue from the other chicks pecking at the chick's vent, that is very bad. If there is no black scabs after cleaning, only a little swollen tissue, that's okay. Use coconut oil on the vent to keep it moist and it will also help keep poop from sticking.

In the first two weeks, a chick needs to keep eating or it will quickly fall behind the others in growth. Keep an eye on it.

She's a silkie and her vent tissue is the color black and seems swollen from upon further inspection.Should I seperate her? There isn't any scabbing that I could see or feel. I soaked her bottom before gently easing the poop off her rectum. This is the second time I have had to do it in a two day period so I was thinking it was irrational. I'll keep any eye on her and use coconut.
