So sorry for the delay. For some reason I never saw the notification. Anyway, here is a couple pics of his back. He’s so handsomeDo you have a pic of the top of the back?
That’s ok. I tend to call all birds “he” for some reason.I wouldn't be picking out male names just yet. It shows more hen traits than cock at this point.
she/he is 11 weeks. The upper neck is getting dark blue purple feathers and the saddle area has turquoise colored feathers. Do purple BS hens get color too? Or is this a peacock? Thanks in advance for all of your help. Without you I may have gone mad on this journeyI wouldn't be picking out male names just yet. It shows more hen traits than cock at this point.
Wow. The amount of detail in your knowledge bank is amazing. I envy you. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to see the differences. Thank you for your help.Yes Purple hens get purple on the back of their necks. But this guy is certainly a cock bird. If it was a hen the markings would look more like this non-purple BS hen. Yours has the tan markings that run through the black which is a better indicator of a cock BS like the second pic.View attachment 3598117View attachment 3598120
A Bronze hen will have a very dark green on the back of the neck. It is hard to explain the colors on these birds as the suns reflection at different angles will make them look totally different.Uhhh,,,,,can bronze hens have purple around their neck too?
