hey i’m new to the BYC group.
i’ve had free range chickens for just over a year and got a white broad breasted turkey, named peaches, a few months ago.
i’ve done a little research and i believe she has arthritis in her feet due to their swelling and how she seems to struggle getting around.
can anyone confirm this? she has no other symptoms and our flock is pretty healthy. i gave her carprofen to hopefully lessen the swelling, i plan to call our vet after a week of medication if she isn’t improving.

Welcome to BYC. Have you checked the bottoms of her feet to look for small cuts or scabs of bumblefoot? Swollen hocks and feet can be from bacterial or viral arthritis. Mycoplasma synovitis is a common bacterial one. Swollen ankles and toes can be common with articular gout. Let us know what the bottoms of her feet look like and pictures may help.

thank you. i checked her feet and i didn’t see any bumble spots. i’ve looked into mycoplasma synovitis and a little into gout. while i don’t think she has mycoplasma synovitis she may have gout or be overweight because of her breed. we plan on cutting her protein intake and taking her for regular walks for exercise.
