I have a white male with a broken blood feather under his wing. He did this last year at about this time as well. It healed fine last year with no intervention but currently I don't think it is going well. It is still bleeding, I think he has been pecking at it. Should I use quick stop or should I pluck the broken feather? I live in Northern Michigan, it has been and will continue to be very cold. Thank you for the help!

Broken blood feathers normally resolve themselves but you should always be ready with a pair of needle nose plyers to pull the stub out to stop the bleeding. When the feather breaks the shaft allows a flow of blood to be released and the bird pecking at the coagulated blood will allow the blood to keep flowing. Removing the shaft is the best way to stop the bleeding.
