I have a nine month old Peacock who for the last two weeks has apparently been having trouble breathing. There are no Avian vets in Kenya but he has been treated with Tylodoxi antibiotic. We have also treated him with Ascarex for Round Worm and Levacide for Gape Worm. He is eating fairly well but is listless and slightly weak. The Vet says his lungs and airway sound clear. There has been no improvement in the Gasping...Does anyone have experience of Gape Worm?

You are absolutely right! Tylodoxi is Doxycycline Hyclate and Tylosin Tartrate, Ascarex is Piperazine Citrate BP and Levacide is Levamisole Hydrochloride 7.5%. I'm going to try to post a video of him breathing.

Thank you very, very much for this advice. I live in Kenya, East Africa. We have a lovely Kenyan vet and a visiting American vet (who has never treated a Peacock) but they are very game. I'll pass on your advice and let you know how we do later today - we are at least eight hours ahead of you...

Hi there,
We have just completed three dosages of Albendazole given orally. They also treated the brother Peacock. Both received a shot of vitamin B complex as well as the Albendazole. They both looked slightly better on day two but today (day three) the brother is looking much happier and eating well but the main patient is standing still, not eating much and no real improvement in the gasping.
Our vet is suggesting to give him an Enrofloxacin injection (cephalosporin antibiotic) and to put Hipralona powder in his water. What do you think?
