Question. If you build a pen with a 'house' to lock them up at night... will that stop them 'screaming' during sleeping hours?... I have been thinking about getting one for years... I live in the country and have acreage, but do have older 'trailer neighbors' .... but wonder if like my cage birds if you cut off their sight of predators they will be quiet at night...? Or do they randomly scream at night , even in a closed structure? (My donkey goes off occasionally if he sees a predator... )

My peacock is caged and does scream/honk at night sometimes. It's usually when there is a predator around, and he doesn't really bother us as he isn't very close to the house.

I'd expect yours to quiet down some, but total silence would be unlikely.

I was thinking if it was a solid wooden shed say 8 x12 that they were locked up at night , then let out into their yard in the daytime. I have 2 rows of cypress trees between me and neighbors 50-100 ft away. If they are in a dark barn and there are no predators for them to see...? ....like my geese. They only make noise when they see someone or an animal they don't recognize. But at night they are quiet except if something comes prowling about.

My two peafowl live in a 12 x 16 building with all the chickens and guineas. They all free range thru the day. I have never heard them at night. I do hear the guineas occasionally at night.
I admit that I haven't been thru a peafowl breeding season tho so I'm not sure what this summer will bring. :hmm
