peacocks neck

i put a hen in the pen with my peacock today for the first time and his upper neck feathers near the face where standing what does this mean?

My peafowl neck feathers all fluff up when stressed, tense etc...they lay down flat when their super calm..etc

My peafowl generally puff up their neck feathers whenever they see a hawk, or when they are about to shake their feathers after taking a dust bath.

Did it seem to make a bump behind his head? Neck also looking slimmed down? Peacocks do that as part of courtship. They do more things than just fanning their tails to court peahens. In other words, he probably was excited at meeting a girl...

The second one is a hen for sure, maybe the first but the pic doesn't show the breast or back very well.
