This is our duck, Duck Wing. We got her at an auction. The guy we got her from said he has a lot of muscovy ducks. So far she whistles and occasionally quacks. I have not heard her hiss. She is in a pen with another full grown male pekin and is much smaller then he is. She waddles like a pekin instead of doing the head bobbing walk like muscovys. But she has a little bit of red on her face and whistles. So is she a mix between a muscovy and a pekin? Is it normal for muscovys to quack?

Hi there.
She does look like a Muscovy cross.
But because she is a Muscovy cross she will have traits,
Of the other duck breed in her.
So the way she walks would have come from the other breed in her blood.
And yes Muscovies do quack :D
By the way she is beautiful.
Goodluck,
Fionn.

I didn't know that muscovies quack I thought they only whistle and hiss. Do you think she is a girl? She is small and dosent hiss but she has shiny feathers like male muscovies have.

Muscovy - other duck breed crosses (including Pekin) are likely to be infertile, fyi. I tried quite a few times to cross a Muscovy drake over other females. But the eggs were consistently infertile; then I learned that while they can breed, they only have about 30% fertility if left to nature. I gave up after that.

Congrats on the cross, very neat.

Hard to say, looks really Muscovy to me. I do have some Muscovy x's here, they are with a buff... they most definitely have more the Mallard derived bird vs the scovie but their coloring is totally leaning on the blend of the Scovies.

Frustrating trait they almost all have(i got a clutch of 10) was they fly like scovies vs being incapable like their Buff orpington mamas lol.

I don't know if mine is a mix or not but she can fly. She could fly into the tree tops if she wanted. She flies way up there while my fat pekin is stuck on the ground lol
