Hi all. So this pekin isn't mine, but stays in the stall with my fostered orphan goose. They've been together since my goose was still a gosling because she had a bad staff infection and had to be separated from her flock back in I believe April or the very beginning of the summer. They get along just fine. Never fought or competed for anything. My goose will SOMETIMES nibble on her feathers and she gets annoyed and moves away but that's it.

It's winter now, December and it's been really quite cold with horrible winds the last week or so. However they stay in a stall overnight and for parts of the day unless I or the ducks owners are home and they're let out in the yard or for a swim in the pool (unfortunately that's been frozen over lately and I cant get the huge ice block out to refill it)

ANYWAY. This ducks bum leg never fully healed right and we believe it may have been broken on TOP of that staff infection she had mo the ago. So it healed in a weird way and she has a limp but other than that she lays her eggs, eats, drinks and swims just fine. But the past like 2 days when I come into their stall I. The early a.m to change their usually frozen over water dish. She has been REALLY skittish. And will run from me if I get too close. However... its not really a run. It's more of a scoot. Her but leg never really provided much help in her walking before. And now her other leg seems to just stay up close to her body and she kind of like hops/scoots and pushes herself with her wings quickly away... what is going on????! Is it too cold for her or something??? My goose is fine. They have 2 heatlamps and she also has her huge straw nest that she is like normally in 75% of the day anyway. She still seems to be laying. I haven't been around too much to see if she's been drinking or eating.... sadly I've been working 7 days a week and long hrs for the past 2 weeks..so I have no idea what mat have happened or what could be causing this!!!!

Her feathers, for a while now, have also been looking very wispy and just.. very thin in general. I had posted about her a few weeks ago and she'd been doing just fine until a few days ago when I noticed her being skittish and scooting around like that.. i basically take care of the two of them soley even though she's not mine. But I care about her as if she was. And it pains me to think there's something wrong with her and not even know what the hell caused it!!!

ANY ideas or advice would be a huge help!!!!

Could she be beginning a molt?
I had a duck that acted that way for a while last month, so I separated him and put him under a heat lamp. I gave him lots of feed and water, and in time he just got over it. I never found out what it was.

Hmm... I have no idea.. I wanna say no. Her feathers base been thinned and kinda wispy like this for some time now. It's just the leg thing and being skittish and kinda lethargic is absolutely new. I mean.. she was never the duck yo really be super active anyway.. she IS a pekin .. and from my understanding, They're very lazy birds..
But I feel like something is definitely very wrong. Like.. ive never seen a duck try to walk like that.. she just scoots away and I tried to look at her leg this a.m. I have no idea what I'm looking for or what to be feeling for.. although. I believe they call it a "hock"?? Kind of looks swollen to me. And I couldn't get to her but leg, but her newly "injured" leg is warm to the touch. But she's also been sitting on it for like 3 days practically... ugh idk what yo do. I want to cry I feel so bad for her!!!!!
